Bio
Margaret has committed her life to helping those in need. Her previous work in the mental health field includes development evaluations, psychiatric screenings, and substance abuse counseling with adolescents and adults. This work has involved conducting drug abuse/dependence assessments, personality assessments, cognitive tests, FDA research, and group/individual therapy with clients diagnosed with an alcohol and substance abuse/dependence disorder.
Currently, Margaret is focused on developing systemic approaches to decreasing social disparities and their effect on healthcare. One such method is a process for formally integrating social workers into Medical-Legal Partnerships (MLP). Margaret has coined the term SWMLP (Social Work-Medical-Legal Partnerships) to describe this innovative approach to help MLPs better address the wide disparities in healthcare and the negative impact social determinants can have on individuals’ well-being.
